NINA MADÙ E LE RELIQUIE COMMESTIBILI

A band specialized in surreal and demented songs

Nina Madu sings about her city.
The terribly elegant Edible Relics take their places.
From the instruments their sinister sounds begin to pour forth.
As if peeping out of some subway grating, glittering wonderful and horrifying at the same time, Nina Madù peeps out.
She makes her way into the rarefied atmosphere created by the music and her presence brings with it something enigmatic.
She approaches the microphone and through her voice begins her urban tale.
The protagonists and places of this tale are the Man with the Carry-on, met on the streetcar in Coni Zugna, the Straight Couple striding laboriously on the cobblestones of the Ripa, a Sushi – All you can eat where someone insistently asks for fried ice cream, the Mummy with the trolley in the Esselunga parking lot, the Children with Dark Circles at the 92 stop who shake you with their earbuds, the Raw Chef converted to cannibalism, the Cathedral Department Store and pilgrimage destination where they spray a persuasive perfume titled Killer Attitude on you.
Nina Madù, who is an urban jaguar and pricks the asphalt skin of her city with the toes of her stiletto boots, utters every word in her vocabulary to sing this multifaceted portrait.
The faithful Relics follow this incessant flow and continually metabolize new styles to re-vomit them by molding themselves to the narrative.
Perhaps some disquiet takes root.
Nina Madù has fulfilled her task and disappears into the shadows of some alley

Three musicians and an actress evoke Nino Rota.
An immersion in the world of the great composer unearthed some ‘chanson’ versions of his vast repertoire for film.
And so much do we need Cabiria, love and anarchy, dolce vita, angry and withered songs, that we have inconvenienced the Maestro’s immortal notes to take us on a backward road to his foggy places and from his lunar, sentimental and unforgettable characters.

Movie music in 12 sentimental nuances

I do not think the term ‘cult’ is excessive when looking at vintage Italian soundtrack production. At least as far as yours truly is concerned.
These sounds are simply pure creativity, born from the inspiration of the broad pantheon of composers of the time and played divinely by an excellent lineage of instrumentalists to transform the two-dimensions of film into a sturm und drang of vibrations pregnant with ever-changing emotions.
Palpitating, vivid medium capable of fomenting collective daydreams, cinema is the quintessence of human visionaryness, and its feelings. And music is the fluid sap that feeds and irrigates its ribbing! it is the blink of its optic gaze! it is the very color of its sky! Oh, yes!
Film music leads us, sometimes pushes or even nudges straight into the unspeakable.

TANGO CLANDESTINO

An incandescent selection of tangos from Argentina but also from Italy, with Latin and Mediterranean digressions. A taut and compact ensemble defies the curves, lights and shadows of this expressionist repertoire populated with stories to shout and whisper, sometimes rough sometimes velvet.
We indulge in these tales of barrio, of alleys, of gory happenings in the light of a street lamp, with pathos but also with irony, on the trail of border characters and situations with corsair spirit.

A theatrical-musical project curated by an unprecedented, mind-blowing, animalistic duo formed by Camilla Barbarito, leader of the Milanese rock band Nina Madù and Le Reliquie Commestibili, and Ernesto Tomasini, actor and singer, defined by the international press as a cult figure because of his 4-octave-extension voice and original performance style. Blessed is he who believes it – Abstractist exhibitionist revue is a phantasmagorical variety show, a thousand lights emanating from a single investigative bulb, aimed at the innermost shadows of the human soul. Two daredevil voices twirl on the edge of fate in a dizzying escalation of reckless bisque, and give us songs of unconditional hatred and stories of interested love! At last, an incredible show in which one can believe: Blessed is he who believes!

“Lampi d’umorismo noir attraversano il concerto, illuminato dalla voce polimorfa di due artisti dalle doti canore eccezionali. I testi della Barbarito sono sempre deliranti, politically incorrect, paradossali, ricchi di bisticci semantici. Sono venati di un sarcasmo che esorcizza ogni sentimentalismo di maniera. Tomasini è invece una sorta di mago Houdini della voce, un illusionista capace di cantare in uno stesso brano come Pavarotti, Farinelli e Callas. Questo Arturo Brachetti delle corde vocali volteggia tra note e vocalizzi come Jury Chechi in mezzo agli anelli. Ne nasce uno spettacolo a tratti esilarante. Almeno tre pezzi meriterebbero un palcoscenico televisivo, nel solco della tradizione migliore del nostro varietà.”
